welcome

Thank you for visiting this gallery. In 2004, at the age of 53, I decided to have a Gap Year! Everyone thought I was mad! I spent nine months travelling around the world, drawing and painting as I went.

The paintings here are two sunrises in the Kakadu National Park and El Questro Wilderness Park in Australia; a sunrise at the Sungai Tea Plantation in the Cameron Highlands, Malaysia and a seacape of the stunning Aitutaki lagoon in the Cook Islands.

The watercolour technique I used is called veil painting, where soft-edged washes of diverse, pale colours are applied in overlapping layers (or veils). As the colours darken slowly, form is introduced by utilising hard edges and overlapping washes of stronger colours. This painting technique gives rise to a shimmering quality and subtle colour nuances.

These images are for sale as Giclee Fine Art A4 prints, mounted or not; also as A5 and A6 greetings cards. They are printed on Somerset Enhanced paper made from 100% cotton.

The prices include p and p. The prices are for within the UK and abroad via Royal Mail. The A4 prints are available in this gallery. The greetings cards are available in the cards galleries.
